This was the third time Amec Foster Wheeler has won an IOP Best Practice in Professional Development Award.
It’s something we’re very proud of, and our trophy is displayed in the reception area of one of our main offices. We’re committed to the professional development of our staff through all stages of their careers, and winning an award helps to showcase to our staff and potential recruits, and to our clients, all the good things we are doing.
We have a longstanding graduate scheme, which is currently in its 31st year and which has a long, unbroken accreditation with the IOP. Staff joining the company at all levels are encouraged to become chartered and to maintain their chartered status through appropriate professional-development activities. To facilitate this Amec Foster Wheeler pays professional membership fees and encourages engagement with STEM activities within our communities and engagement with Institute lectures, as well as providing internal opportunities such as lunch-and-learns.
Our aim is to embed a best-in-class employee development culture that builds an engaged workforce capable of performing today’s work and winning the work of the future. Our dedicated learning and development team is focused on supporting people-development at all levels of the organisation. We also operate a Head of Profession Network, led by our chief engineer, with a broad remit in the area of corporate capability and development including a regular analysis to identify any issues required to sustain and grow skills in all our core skill areas – including employee development.
Our award from the IOP is a valuable recognition of our commitment to developing our people.
