Celebrate Rutherford

Pioneer of the nuclear age, Ernest Rutherford was one of the greatest scientists of the 20th century. 2009 marks the centenary of the Geiger-Marsden experiment, which led to his discovery of the atomic nucleus and began a whole new field of study: nuclear physics. Rutherford’s great-granddaughter Mary Fowler and physicists Paddy Regan and Gary Mathlin join Jim Al-Khalili to celebrate the life of a man whose work changed our world forever.
In association with the Institute of Physics South West.
