New event: ultra precision engineering – from physics to manufacturing lectures events

Ultra-precision engineering is a multi-disciplinary subject facilitating the transfer of fundamental physics into technology solutions. Numerous life-enhancing technologies, which harness the basic principles of physics, demand extreme accuracy, frequently at the nanometre level, to enable practical realisation.

This meeting will bring together scientists and engineers to review the evolution of ultra-precision engineering, to discuss scientific advances and to identify the major challenges to future progress in ultra-precision engineering.

Speakers and chairs include:
Dr C K (Sam) Beale, Professor Ekkard Brinksmeier, Professor Colin Cunningham, Professor Chris Evans, Professor Alistair Forbes, Dr Michael Garner, Professor Xiangqian Jane Jiang, Professor Pat McKeown OBE FREng, Dr Stephen Myers, Professor John Pethica FRS, Mr Philip Charles Ruffles CBE FRS, Dr Adrian Russell, Professor Robert-Han Munnig Schmidt, Professor Paul Scott, Professor Paul Shore, Professor David Whitehouse and Professor David Williams.

The meeting is free to attend, but pre-registration is essential as places are limited. The online registration form and programme information can be found here.
