Films are full of scientists in general and physicists in particular. Who is your favourite film physicist – leaving scientific accuracy aside for the moment? Take our poll now and tell us who we should include in our list of the top movie physicists.
None of these – I'd go for Cliff Buxton (Sam Neill) in The Dish. Funny, understated, and even though you knew the story (or thought you did..) thrilling. Neill is excellent
My choice would be either Mr Spock, several StarTrek films or Admiral Katherine Janeway, quote “Who wants to scrabble around in the dirt when you can study quantum mechanics?”
Buckaroo Banzai!
Also the Prince of Darkness guy, although I wouldn’t have remembered his name if not for the earlier comment.
the Time Machine should also be mentioned.
oh, come-on! i really can’t believe you guys! Where is Msc,PhD,ScD -OmG- Dr. Sheldon Cooper???!!!
p.s.: i know u said “films” but isn’t the “rationale of such designation of motion pictures” is infinitesimal compared to the his utter awesomeness…………:p

What about Professior Howard Birack in Prince of Darkness? Shame to have left him off the list …

Spock. Always. Spock. But nooooo. No one ever puts Spock on these lists.
