Today some colleagues and I are off to the Scientific Laboratory Show, which the Institute is supporting along with a number of other professional bodies.
The conference will showcase the very best in the latest products and developments from more than 60 of the world’s leading manufacturers of laboratory products. The event will also see the Science Council host a Professional Development Zone, which we’re excited to take part in as it gives us the opportunity to network with a large number of science technicians who are obviously committed to their personal and professional development.
As a charity that offers professional-development opportunities, we’re in a great position to support physics technicians in achieving their career goals, including professional registration. The IOP has a huge number of tools and resources that technicians can tap into in their drive to excel in their career. At this event, we will offer a CV-checking service as well as answering questions around, among other things, career development, professional registration and chartership.
Attending the show will also allow us to connect with some of the UK’s best manufacturing companies. It will give us the opportunity to talk about the support employers can receive from the IOP, and discuss some of the awards that they can apply for. The Institute of Physics Best Practice in Professional Development Awards will resonate with many of the companies present, along with accreditation and recognition through our Accredited Company Training Scheme.
