Massey award celebration
Last week saw the awards ceremony for the IOP Massey medal and prize. This year’s winner, Professor David Cockayne (University of Oxford) was honoured for his contributions to the development and application of high precision transmission electron microscopy.
The Massey medal was instituted by the IOP Council in 1988 to mark the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Australian Institute of Physics. The award was initially a monetary prize, but in 1992 it became an International Bilateral Awards made biennially jointly by the IOP and by The Australian Institute of Physics.
