Science Ambassador
Always on a mission to spread the word about the IOP and promote physics, Alison McLure, IOP National Officer in Scotland, took part in a subject choice event at Perth High School last week. The event was part of the Science and Engineering Ambassador (SEAs) Programme, which enables people with a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) interest to support and inspire young people.
Students from Perth High School, who will need to choose their Higher subjects soon, had the chance to talk to a range of ambassadors, including engineers, physicists and mathematicians, and quiz them about their careers.
At the IOP stand, students had the opportunity to pick up a range of leaflets on careers as a physicist, make some balloon kebabs and chat to Alison about her own career as a weather forecaster, which involved an exciting stint in Antarctica.
